The PSAT (Preliminary SAT) is a standardized test conducted by the College Board and co-sponsored by the US National Merit Scholarship Corporation. The scores obtained in the PSAT are brought into use to determine the qualification for the National Merit Scholarship Program. Preparing for PSAT is essential if the students wish to get a National merit scholarship or if the students wish to experience the SAT format. The PSAT, like the SAT, consists of three sections: Reading, Writing & Language, and Math. Though these scores are not helpful for college admissions, experts look at these scores as an effective gateway to achieve a great score on the SAT.
